We've beefed up our tutorials section at MAC!

Not much updates on our MAC Forums? Yeap, not much updates as everything is going fairly well. Thanks a ton to our VIP members, moderators and members, the Forums is pretty much running smoothly as of late. It is a ton busier and active since we started it last year and a lot of really good WIPs and finished kits are popping out almost everyday.

We have re-arranged the sections a bit making sure that the completed section ( Launch Pad ) and the WIP section ( Workshop ) is the focus of the boards. All Open topics, discussion threads, market sections are placed at the lower part of the Forums.

However, we thought of beefing up our Tutorial section ( Training Room ) the past few days as well. Aside from the initial approach of home made tutorials from the members themselves as we value home " self " made tutorials a lot more. We added a few more sub sections ( pinned topics ) that has links to various modeling sites, blogs, YouTube channels and forums of every modeling genre there is.

Yeap, tutorials of painting and modeling of every genre you can think of, may it be railroading, table tops, scale modeling and of course Gunpla. The tutorials simply serves as a very nice directory of as much tutorials we could grab around the net ( we link it to them ). I learn a lot of diorama building in railroaders myself... so these links are valuable tools for learning and enjoying the hobby a lot more.

MG The O custom modeled by Decay

Just got in the office, opened my blog, and opened our MAC Forums when suddenly I was greeted with this monster of a build! I needed NO coffee whatsoever nor do I need to eat breakfast to wake my senses up. This monster Master Grade The O custom was modeled by William Decay aka decay of our MAC Forums.

Decay was pretty much known for his beautiful rendition of the MG EX-S, but I think people would also now associate him with this recent masterpiece. I love the steam punk, grungy effect of the weathering and finishing and how he broke the monotony of the colors with some whites, darker tones and decal work.

All the modifications are beautiful and the mesh work is just a delight to look at. This made me soooo itchy to touch my The O build or any plastic for that matter. The mini arm that was originally placed underneath the front skirts and is now placed alongside the main arms is GENIUS! I love the creativity put into this build and the execution is masterful!

MG ReZel GAF GB modeled by Hemish

I have here a finely painted Master Grade ReZel for the Gundam Australia Forums ReZel Group Build. This green ReZel is modeled by no other than Hemish! For those modelers who are active in Gunpla forums, Hemish is really known for painting his kits green.

I love the color scheme very much and the color combination just blended together perfectly! The tones / colors used gave the kit a very military and realistic look to the mecha. Hemish painted all of the metallics with Alclad and he painted the armor parts with Tamiya acrylics. Great combination of both flat and metallics in one kit.

Although personally I think some decals would make this perfect, The genius used of colors is just so masterfully shown in the build. I first saw this at our forums but as this is a GAF GB, more photos and discussion of this build is at Gundam Australia Forums ( GAF )...

Ebasenet Head GB - Turn A WIP Summary

I thought of putting up a summary post of my Turn A head WIP as all of the WIP posts are scattered all over my blog. My last WIP update shows that the project is almost done although I still have to detail paint the figures and do some pastel work on the head to complete it.

I bought this Turn A in one of the Toy conventions here in the Philippines and it is a coin bank. I then thought of adding details to it and used the MG G-Fighter as the neck / upper torso part. Then the Ebasenet GB was announced at ZeroGunz and I thought of using it as my entry. Although I have started on the project a bit, Whitebase allowed me to enter it for their GB.

I then decided to set up a simple base for the head and make it look like it was totally damaged and dead already. I then added some out of scale 1/35 figures to give life to the whole set up. The base of the neck is scratch built with some pla plates and it is painted with Tamiya acrylics.

Weathering was done with Mungyo pastels, Tamiya enamels, Citadel acrylic paints, and Tamiya weathering master. Anyways, here are some photos showing the whole progress of the build...

8th MS Team diorama modeled by Emonem

I have here a very nice work by another fellow Filipino Gunpla modeler in Emonem. This diorama was his first ever built Gunpla diorama and this was his entry last BMKWC 2010. I suddenly thought of featuring this work coz Emonem just asked me to do a tutorial of how I will paint the figures of my Turn A head diorama.

I found it a bit weird coz I remembered that he painted his figures very well and it will be my first time to paint 1/35 figures myself. So now I present to you Emonem's very nice diorama of a 8th MS Team. The painting of the hover tank and the figures are nice and the weathering of all the kits are just enough. Variations in weathering like paint chippings would be great for his next weathered build though.

Yes the Gundam is out of scale, but I like how he presented it in the overall composition of the diorama. A nice open cockpit of the Gundam with a 1/35 figure inside would be perfect! Anyways more photos and discussion of this build in our MAC forums diorama section...

The photo shows my 2nd daughter way back August 2009? She was around 2 1/2 years old back then when she was helping me set up my diorama ( The Graveyard ) for BAKUC 2009. Anyways, I just want to tell you that I have set up a new blog page on top.

The new page is my Work in Progress page which contains links to all my WIP posts here in my blog, may it be a finished build or a ongoing build. I have yet to design and assign banners for each link but all of the links are working already.

Eva 2.0 Unit 01 WIP - seam line removal and panel line scribing

I started a bit of work on my Eva Unit 01 kit that would be my entry for yet another ZeroGunz Group Build. This kit will be my entry for Jeffho's Metallic team of the Metallic versus Weathering GB. Yeap, this build will be bling bling and won't be weathered.

I think the last time I built a shiny kit was when I did a Mazinger Z kit for my former boss so this will be a bit challenging for me. I will not put any pla plate detailing on this kit at all as that will just be an extra challenge to paint in bling bling colors.

I will however add some panel lines all over the armor parts to break the large bare spaces. It is a bit difficult to scribe panel lines on the round surface though and the first few scribed pane lines are crooked and needs clean up.

I kinda hate this kit as it has a gazillion of seam lines which are all in the wrong places. I have removed the seam lines now thus I have to do masking to paint the black internals. Oh well will work on this kit sparingly after the MG Zeta commish...

Ebasenet Head GB - Turn A last WIP update

Almost done! This is my entry for the Ebasenet / ZeroGunz Head Group Build and I managed to almost finish it last night. In comparison to the previous update, The overall color of the Turn A head is a bit warmer and rustic looking. I basically added more washes to the head and used the RED Future variant as the overall flat top coat.

The Red Future ( Pledge Wipe and Shine ) acts as a very soft filter as it is a light clear red in color. It blended all the weathering effects added to the kit thus giving it a more realistic look. The ground work was painted with my airbrush and a lighter tone of the groundwork was also sprayed around the edges of the Turn A head to serve as dust effects.

I also painted the soldiers in Tamiya acrylics and will have to paint all the details with a fine brush. I decided to give the figures a blue uniform as khaki and greens are too realistic to me. Hopefully the blue uniforms will give the whole diorama a more SCI FI look.

Enamel washes around the corners of the groundwork, pastel work on the Turn A head and detail painting of the figures will complete this build. This will be the last WIP update for this build and hope to finish this soon. Anyways here are some snapshots of the progress so far...

I am not a bling guy, why? coz I know nothing on how to pull one off. But I have here a couple of nice 1/144 kits which are so bling bling, they look like they just came out from a cow's mouth. I present to you Kriz's most recent bling bling masterpieces!

Both kits are beautifully painted with an airbrush using some prismatic colors and made extra bling bling with some polishing compound. I am very sure these finely built models looks super nice in person as it is very difficult to capture the beauty of glossy kits in photography. I particularly love the blue tone used in the GN-X as it is just so pleasing to the eyes.

MG Zeta WIP - more pla plating...

I was in the middle of adding small pla plate strips when I realized that I needed to take photos already as I cannot take good indoor WIP photos later. Anyways, I managed to add more pla plates since the last update and a few more panel lines.

The most obvious panel line addition is the small head panel lines to simulate armor separation as seen in the next photo below. I also added a couple of spiky pla plates on the chest armor to give it a more unique look. I was also able to putty up and clean up a few errors in the modifications and has also wet sanded a few rough parts.

This will be primed upon the approval of the client and will be painted very soon. Anyways here are some progress photos so far...
