Warmachine/Hordes Painting - The 50mm Painting Contest

New Monthly Contest!! I know all of us have unpainted models out
there and some of us procrastinate the most on the big models! So this
month anyone who enters will have 30 days to paint a 50mm model. It can
be any figure as long as it has a 50mm base (Example: Epic Borka, Khador
Destroyer, Extreme Carnivian etc...)

Judging will start on July
1st where the top 5 Unit's will be selected by the admins. The Best of
Show award will be voted by everyone in the group out of the top
five. There will be two categories entrants will be eligible for,
Masters and Mercenaries. **You may only enter Masters if you have
previously entered our painting contests and have placed within the top 5
previously.** Judges reserve the right to move your entry into Masters
category if we feel your painting is of high enough level.

Entries will be judged July 3rd at a time yet to be determined by the admin staff.

Gunpla Contest @Facebook

Me, Maverik176 and Kriz Cook is cooking up something at Facebook these past couple of days. We are thinking of setting up a quick and fun Gunpla contest soon! A fun contest should be fun for all! 

I asked away at Facebook about what 1/144 kits would people like without burning our wallets... most comments said Build Burning Gundam or any Gunpla Build Fighters kit! These prizes are affordable enough and the boxes are small enough for shipping. 

The contest entries should be nice to feature in our blogs and Facebook pages and all entries should be posted at our Facebook groups, thus the main requirement to be able to participate is to like our FB pages and groups. 

Nothing final yet in terms of rules and mechanics, except that you should post entries at our Facebook groups. So hope you like our pages for updates, and join our groups to be able to participate... Links are listed below...

new Facebook LIKE button at MAC forums

First and foremost, MECH ARTS COMMUNITY ( at Facebook ) is the Official extension of MAC FORUMS.



Pardon the name, MAC and Mech Arts Community as our Mech Arts Community Facebook group page came a few months ahead of our MAC forums. It might create a bit of confusion, but MAC in Facebook is basically Mech Arts Community instead of just MAC.



Obviously we have more forum members than likers at Facebook, but we always try to update you with everything Mech Arts here in my website and through our MAC Facebook page.



I am personally not really a Facebook user as I am more of a blogger and a forum guy. But we like promoting our forums through our Facebook page. In constant drive to improve our MAC forums, we ( MatX ) just installed a LIKE button on every page at our forums.



The LIKE button should help us promote and share the contents of the forums to Facebook with an easy Facebook LIKE button. Help us share those awesome works from fellow members and modelers... LIKE them without discretion ( lol ).

random thoughts on blogger, twitter and facebook

Just some random thoughts on blogger, twitter and Facebook guys. I do not claim expertise in these social networking sites and blogging, heck I think I am not even a year old member of both twitter and Facebook and have been blogging since November 2009 only. But I do have some insights that could be helpful to some newer bloggers, twitters, Facebook mainstays out there.

my New avatar and twitter, well I have used quite a lot of avatars since starting my blog. But it is only recently that I have started to actually design my own though. I envy Toymaker's and Bmecha's avatars, it is very unique and they have been using it for a while now. 

The sudden change in avatar is primarily because of twitter yesterday. As I was looking for good twitters to follow, I found some really cool looking avatars that stood out of the bunch. I then designed an avatar that would also look good even when it is very very small already ( important specially in twitter ).

My new avatar is yellow and black and is obviously based on the color scheme of my Kampfer. I added a bushy goatee as I sometimes forget to trim mine in real life. I also designed it to have a frown and a smirk at the same time ( close friends knows why ). I like my new avatar, even though it says nothing about my hobby, it pretty much shows my personality in a glance.

Facebook, I manage a couple of Facebook pages and have my own personal account. As most of you know by now, my wife uses my account for playing some Fb games even though she has her own account ( I wonder why? ). I am a bit active at our Mech Arts Community group page and a few fellow modelers and Gunpla enthusiasts like Gundam Guy is active in our community page as well.

As much as I have fun with interacting at our MAC Fb page, I feel I kinda neglected my own DC23 mech arts artist / fan page. Most modelers have this fan page stuff, just copied mine from Kenny ( Toymaker ). I am now starting to visit my own page more often these days, post a few photos once in a while and answer inquiries if there are some. It is easier to manage yourself than a community after all.

Blogger, Blogger is NOT free! This is important coz as much as I enjoy blogging, I felt it was kinda unfair that I thought it was a free service. However since last month, I could NO longer upload photos in my blogger account. Once you've reached the 1 GB quota for photos, you have to pay a premium for continuing to use it. Good thing I have a Pro Photobucket account, I now upload photos, even banners through this account.

SO, if you blog and upload photos as much as I do, be ready to pay a premium or have a Pro Photobucket or Pro Flicker account at hand. Heck, I have a Pro Photobucket account coz I also have exceeded the FREE quota in Photobucket. hehe, I guess I do blog too much.

M.A.C. forums is up!!!

Ello guys, I took a sick leave from work today coz I do not feel good at all and I cannot do much  Gunpla coz my left thumb has a 7mm wound. Thus, I decided to work on developing and adding sections to the MAC forums that MatX initially has set up a year ago.



Due to the surprising success of the MAC group page at Facebook and also the very successful ally group page in GMAC, We have decided to push through with the MAC forums to have a more structured place with lots of sections for our Facebook members.



Unfortunately, we are not launching it to the public yet but I have sent invites to a handful of " trusted " Gunpla friends to help us fill in the sections before opening it and inviting everyone to join and enjoy the hobby with us. XD



As of this writing the forum has 7 members only. hihi... Anyways, the MAC forums has all the sections that we think we will be needing to keep it as lively as any forum out there. It has the standard WIP, launch pad and tutorial sections, a gathering and introduction section and even a buy and sell and market section.



We are based in the Philippines of course but any non- Filipino Gunpla enthusiast is pretty much welcome, much like the MAC group page at Facebook. We will develop it a little further and invite a few friends before launching it.



I am looking forward to your support as much as you have supported my 9 month old blog and our 1 month old MAC group page. We will try to make the new forum as lively and active as much as we can, specially to the new and aspiring modelers out there.

M.A.C. shirt designs and prize for the M.A.C. online competition!

Ello guys, I met up with a handful of guys in Kisapmata ( Jose Sabale ), Fil Dimaano and MatX last Saturday and we talked about Gunpla of course. hihi... The main purpose of the meeting is to talk about the MAC competition,  MAC shirts and other MAC stuffs. Ghani Madueno, the Sampayo brothers and Angelo Guibone ( MDgelo ) were unable to come.



We have a slight problem with the printing of the MAC shirts, Fil needs to find a cheaper supplier to cut the cost and I asked him if he could remove the DC23 on the design already. I am still waiting for Fil's next batch of superb designs... and we hope we could find a cheaper alternative to printing a handful of shirts ( maybe around 20 ).



On the other hand, MatX gave me a Trumpeter tool as his donation to the MAC online competition... again, the prizes are a Robot Damashi figure, a Tamiya tool, 3 pieces of MSG option parts and a limited Bandai item. Plus of course the Trrumpeter tool from MatX.



It was a very nice meet up... looking forward to meeting these guys again before Bakuc and hopefully we pull off the competition and shirts among others. ;)

new M.A.C. logo

Ello guys, Just a quick post tonight... I redesigned a new MAC or Mech Arts Community logo. The Community is really flourishing right now. Thanks to all the members who have joined! We now have 354 members and counting.

Of course all this is NOT possible without the support and contributions of most of its active members ( you know who you are, hihi ). Anyways, I redesigned the logo to focus on the initials of the group which is M.A.C.... hopefully this redesign will bolster the shorter name M.A.C. as we fondly call it right now, instead of calling it in its real long name Mech Arts Community.





Again, our vision at M.A.C. is very simple... Bloggers sharing to non - Bloggers some Blog updates and Modelers sharing Models to fellow Modelers and non - Modelers. Join us now at M.A.C. at Facebook! XD

THANK YOU to ALL from MAC!!!

Mech Arts Community or M.A.C. is a new international community of Gundam bloggers and modelers with the sole intention to inspire & promote GUNDAM Plastic Modeling as a hobby to all aspiring modelers young and old.



My deepest gratitude to all the 212 members so far, who supported the idea in its first 4 days and specially to those who have contributed photos, links, and discussions to our wall already.



We encourage all members to post photos of there old and new Gunpla works. We also encourage posting links to your threads in ZeroGunz, Plamo, Netmorks, FichtenFoo, Hobbyfanatics, Figure and other forums. Bloggers are also encouraged to post updates or archives of there blog contents as a contribution to the community.



Putting links of your threads in forums and updates of your blogs will merge MAC with the established forums and will definitely help the community. Also putting links of your blog updates could help in the awareness of blog updates to non-blogger members.



These sharing of links will hopefully produce a very diverse Gundam community merging all forums and Gundam blogs in one location, kinda creating a directory of forum threads and Gunpla blogs of some sort, thus coexisting with the great forums and blogs through out the world wide web.



Most importantly, the sharing of your masterpieces by posting photos in our wall would definitely help inspire other members and keep the Gunpla fire burning amongst us. We also invite Junior modelers ( 18 and below ) to join our very first MAC ONLINE competition and try there hand in creating the funniest and cutest SD Gundam they could think of.

DC23 mech arts site extension and community page. ;D

Ello guys I have decided against terminating the old fan page. The old fan page is renamed DC23 mech arts site extension coz it will just be an extension of this blog. RSS feeds from here will automatically be fed to that page.

On the other hand, The new DC23 mech arts community page is basically a community / group page and members are encouraged to post and share there Gundam works there. So, the community page promotes sharing of personal Gundam builds while the site extension is just an extension of this blog. Thanks for the support as always! XD



P.S. Naming the community under DC23 is not a narcissistic move of any sort. I truly think naming it like so will make the younger and new Gundam enthusiasts feel more comfortable sharing there works there. XD

Ello guys, I would like to invite you all to our new Gundam COMMUNITY page at Facebook. I named it after my site because I will no longer post any updates on my current DC23 mech arts FAN page.



It is always difficult to start anew, but I thought creating a community / group page on Facebook will be more beneficial to the hobby than just having a fan page and an extension of this blog.



THANK YOU to all the 199 fans of the old DC23 mech arts page and we hope to see all of you in the new DC23 mech arts COMMUNITY page at Facebook.
