1/35 RX-78-2 ver Ka by mtomczek

Ello guys, I present to you Matt Tomczek's not so recent masterpiece, the 1/35 RX-78-2 ver Ka! We basically enjoyed the WIP of this behemoth at Fichtenfoo forums and ZeroGunz and have also seen this monster of a build at both forums as well.



However, I am really happy to see Matt's masterpieces at MAC forums now... Like I said before, I feel so fortunate to have met and made good friends in Hong Kong and at ZeroGunz! Matt Tomczek's and my other non- Filipino friends are helping us inspire the new aspiring Filipino modelers at MAC.



This build opened my eyes for my future...hihi. After seeing this at ZeroGunz, I vowed that one of these years I will buy this behemoth and show this monster to my fellow Filipino modelers in the flesh ( resin ), Hope my wife never reads this. Matt's painting skills is humanly impossible to match but I hope to build one of these resin giants in the near future.

hguc ZAKU F2 by chubbybots

Ello guys, I saw this build yesterday at MAC forums and it was surprisingly in the collection hub section... Why? coz it is unpainted! Yes, I was really surprised that this build is not in the Launch pad or completed / painted section. This is actually an unpainted straight out of the box build.



This hguc ZAKU F2 is done by chubbybots, the owner of the blog - The Toy Room. He basically removed the seam lines, sanded it to a nice smooth finish and weathered it with Tamiya weathering master set. It really looks well done and he did not overdo the weathering at that. A perfect unpainted build that looks painted! Here are a couple of pics...

New emoticons!

 Phew, the internet connection here in the office is ssssooooo slow, I just finished putting new large emoticons for the MAC forum. hihi... I'll be sending the 2nd wave of invites at Facebook once I get home from the office... Looking forward to seeing more people and masterpieces inside the forum. ;)



The forum is slowly shaping up now, We are slowly shaping up a home for all the aspiring new modelers out there... wish us luck!

M.A.C. forums is up!!!

Ello guys, I took a sick leave from work today coz I do not feel good at all and I cannot do much  Gunpla coz my left thumb has a 7mm wound. Thus, I decided to work on developing and adding sections to the MAC forums that MatX initially has set up a year ago.



Due to the surprising success of the MAC group page at Facebook and also the very successful ally group page in GMAC, We have decided to push through with the MAC forums to have a more structured place with lots of sections for our Facebook members.



Unfortunately, we are not launching it to the public yet but I have sent invites to a handful of " trusted " Gunpla friends to help us fill in the sections before opening it and inviting everyone to join and enjoy the hobby with us. XD



As of this writing the forum has 7 members only. hihi... Anyways, the MAC forums has all the sections that we think we will be needing to keep it as lively as any forum out there. It has the standard WIP, launch pad and tutorial sections, a gathering and introduction section and even a buy and sell and market section.



We are based in the Philippines of course but any non- Filipino Gunpla enthusiast is pretty much welcome, much like the MAC group page at Facebook. We will develop it a little further and invite a few friends before launching it.



I am looking forward to your support as much as you have supported my 9 month old blog and our 1 month old MAC group page. We will try to make the new forum as lively and active as much as we can, specially to the new and aspiring modelers out there.

Like I always say... Just enjoy the hobby guys!!! XD

Evangelion: You Are ( Not ) Alone figures

Ello guys, I was working with the leg armor parts and modding them to expose the internals after lunch today. But, as usual with exposing internal mods, I wounded myself with a fresh very sharp art knife!!! My left thumb has a nice 7mm wound now, thus I cannot do Gunpla further.



Anyways, I resorted to taking photos of my new Evangelion figures instead. I finished watching the first movie - Evangelion:1.0 You Are (Not) Alone and I am halfway with the second movie - Evangelion:2.0 You Can (Not) Advance. I am a new Evangelion fan!!! I plan to get a Bandai kit of at least one of the Evas soon! Maybe do it after my PG MKII commission build.



I have yet to get a Shinji figure and I plan to get the other characters in pilot suits also. Anyways, here are photos of Rei Ayanami ( white ),  Asuka Langley ( red ) and Kaworu Nagisa ( violet )...

Here is my simple photo set up... I just shot it outdoors under a shade and placed a couple of mirrors to reflect the ambient afternoon ( 4 pm ) light towards the figures...

New though old look for DC23 mech arts...

Ello guys, lazy to do Gunpla this morning but hopefully I'll get to work on the PG MKII later after lunch.

The weather is gloomy and bad today and I guess that contributed a lot to my lazy mood. I have the MKII beside me though, and I have detached all the armor leg pieces for modding.



I did some minor tweaking of the M.A.C. contest banner and I also edited my avatar. Now the avatar has the accent colors of my blog which is yellow-green paint splatter ( or puke ), red and blacks. I am really digging my new avatar... will be sticking with it for some time.



Anyways, I also changed the color and overall look ( not the template ) of my blog today and chose to give the blog a darker feel. I had this look before but I had white text ( kinda normal to me ), so I am experimenting with a dull bluish gray background with black texts. I am not really sure if it works, I could always go for the normal light colored text over a dark background anyways. What do you think guys???

EX-S Gundam by Eddy Lai

Lets kick the day off with a masterpiece by a good friend from Malaysia.

Eddy Lai is a very active member of M.A.C. at facebook from the get go of the community. He engages himself with the discussions and he also contributes links and photos of his works on the wall.



This guy is a prodigy! hihi... He started painting Gunpla only last year ( 2009 ) but his works look like it was done by at least 5 year old modelers. His pieces are continually improving in every build... Eddy's recent work is definitely a masterpiece in my book.



I have not done an EX-S Gundam yet, but I read that just sanding the nub marks and doing the seam lines of this kit is a daunting task already. Thus creating one in OOTB is a great accomplishment in itself, much more modify it to create your own version.



Eddy Lai has managed to create his own version... his modifications are subtle but very effective, his painting and shading in particular is marvelous to behold and the photography is simply Professional.

PG MKII commission - WIP - diorama setup

Ello guys, I have been working with the initial set up of the hangar diorama of the MKII since after lunch today. I had to pack up early coz my daughter Samantha woke up with a bad mood ( sitting beside my portable table in the photos ), so I immediately took crappy photos and packed my tools away.



I am currently blogging with her on my lap now... hehe. Anyways, I managed to assemble a few 1/72 figures that came unassembled as usual. I also managed to stage the main catwalk and some reinforcements to stabilize the cat walk of course.



I have to detail the hangar soon but as you can see it is just a basic hangar diorama without walls... much like Toymaker's Maintenance Bay dioramas. Anyways, here are a few lousy photos of my progress so far...

my 10 year OLD drawings...

Ello guys, I decided to revive my old portfolio which is basically my old 1999 - 2001 drawings. My favorite amongst all of them is the sad " blue " clown that I drew on a textured paper and painted in Prang water colors. It was then inked with Rotring technical pens.and this made me change my avatar to a clown. hihi



I figured to scan and upload most of the better drawings as they are really getting dirty and really old. At least now I have a 300 dpi copies of them and have small copies here in my blog as well. My medium was water color ever since, but a few were painted with colored pencils, photoshop, poster colors and technical pens.



Pretty nostalgic while looking at them... and came to realize that I love doing details ever since, like the scales of the dragon and most of the brush strokes... anyways here are my 9 - 11 year old drawings...
