1/100 Cairn Freya modeling by thehelmosengine

I just featured and blogged about thehelomosengine's WIP yesterday. But I can't help not to feature one of his finished scratch built project. I feel every time I look at his builds is that we are living in the past... We are all still detailing our MGs while this guy is stripping MGs of their armor and totally scratch builds armor parts for the internals.

He is practically coming up with his own series of custom scratch built robots! Insane very creative work! This Cairn Freya is basically done with a MG Impulse Gundam internals and most if not all of the armor parts are scratch built. He basically does the first side and casts the other side in resin. His masterpiece makes me want to try casting! Great stuff guys!

For a gazillion of reads, photos and discussion of this build, here is the link to our MAC forums...

Gunpla Inspiration featuring JuliusLim by Kamm

Jonathan Kaminski aka Kamm one of our resident youtuber at MAC forums, just finished another video for his Gunpla Inspiration series. After having yours truly ( Philippines ), Toymaker ( Singapore ) and Matt Tomczek ( US ), Kamm now has no other than Julius Lim from Malaysia as his Gunpla Inspiration for the month.

As I've said in my previous post, one of Julius Lim's build was my Gunpla of the year back in 2009. Most of the monster masterpieces of Juju is in Kamm's video and is very well presented as always and has a very nice sound track too. I highly recommend you take a look at Kamm's feature of Julius Lim's masterpieces.

Thanks for dropping by! Til' next feature guys! ;)

1/20 WAVE MK-31 modeled by JuliusLim

I have been waiting for the completed photos of this build for almost a week now, as the WIP photos are so dang good they look as good as finished. Finally the photos are up at Julius Lim's blog and I could share to you Juju's recent eye popping masterpiece!

I really do not know how to feature Juju anymore as I have basically said everything about his skills and his builds already. I even had Julius Lim's build as Gunpla of the Year back in 2009 and he equally impressed last year with his PG FA MK-II at BMKWC Malaysia 2010.

Juju's builds never fails to impress! Always a delight as we are treated to one of the best in the community. I highly recommend you bolt down to Julius Lim's blog for more photos and very informative WIP posts.

Here is the link guys...

MG RX-78-2 diorama modeled by shiro11

Another beautiful work from one of our newer members at MAC forums, shiro11. This is a very nice work on the old MG RX-78-2 version 1.5 kit, unpainted, battle damaged and placed on a pro-level custom base. I like the frame of the base of the diorama as it gave a very professional feel to the presentation of the whole piece.

The weathering on the kit was very beautifully executed and the whole composition of the scene is just eye catching. I like the detail touch of putting a pilot on the ground looking up the RX as it kinda gives an impression of a conversation between him and the mecha.

The ground work is extra nice as all the shrubs and greeneries looks very much in scale with the 1/100 pilot. I love the tones of the greens blended together which looks convincingly realistic. I love this work so much, simple, straight forward and looks like a very fun build. Great stuff!

More photos and discussion of this beautiful work in our MAC forums...

Custom Scratch build modeling by thehelmosengine

This fully scratch built mecha is being modeled by thehelmosengine or onecoldnight ( Bakuc.com )! I rarely blog about work in progress builds but this one blew me away! I have been enjoying a lot of scratch building projects in ZeroGunz but now we have a SB king ( aside from MatX ) in MAC forums!

The amount of scratch building on this project is totally insane! I should just focus on my dioramas as there is NO way whatsoever I would even attempt a build with this much scratch building. Totally sick skill level and a highly creative modeler at that. As he does not only SB from a reference but he is actually designing his own mecha.

This WIP thread is totally insane and I highly recommend you visit the forums for a gazillion more photos and discussion of this build. Our WIP section is closed to guests though, so only MAC forum members that are logged in can head out to the link...

Toymaker versus DC23 face-off WIP - big butt done!

As I've said, I can't really do much Gunpla during weekdays this month. My friggin' work schedule simply does not allow me too even hook up in Skype. However, I was able to apply some epoxy on the corners of the butt that needed some repair as seen in my previous post.

I was also able to successfully add a LIP around the edges of the whole butt. I simply forcefully glued a 3mm square Tamiya pla rod around the edges and applied epoxy with my fingers in between the butt and the square rod. After letting the epoxy cure for 3 days, I then sanded the square " lip " to make it round and also sanded the corners.

Their are still a few errors on a few parts but nothing a nice couple of layers of Tamiya putty would not fix. I also had to bore the holes for the Kotobukiya parts as I reinforced the innards with a thick layer of Epoxy. I highly doubt any modeling stress would deform this really hard shell of pla plates and epoxy now.

I apologize for the crappy out of focus photos as my camera is with my sister in law. This is the very same reason I cannot show some Zeta updates today but will surely take photos for tomorrow's update as I will have my camera by then. Anyways, here are a few more crappy shots of my butt...

Thanks for dropping by! Til' next update! :)

Partied with my kids today

This post has NO Gunpla thingee whatsoever, but I always like putting my kid's photos in my archives. My son always roams around my blog looking at their photos before heading to Y8.com everyday. Yeap my 3 year old son could open the computer on his own and get to his fav sites. Maybe he could also be a blogger one of these days...

Just got home from a kid's party and I am so tired will just do Gunpla first thing tomorrow morning. I met up with my kids and wifey after work today around 1 pm and fetched them from a nearby mall. We then rocketed to the party around 2 pm and hanged out in the party room for an hour before the activities started.

The kids were treated to gallons of ice cream, kilos of hotdogs and bags of french fries. There were also some games and a cool magic show for the kids that I enjoyed as well. After the party we then stayed in the venue for a couple more hours, the kids rode some rides and ate some more hotdogs!

It was a fun family day but it sure was tiring! I then have to drive almost a couple of hours to home... Anyways here are a few more photos of the half day bonding with the kids...

G-SHOT - Gundam Australia Forums People's Choice!

The G-SHOT Gunpla photo competition is over now and Gundam Guy has shipped the prizes to all the winners. However as I have mentioned in my previous G-SHOT posts, all the judges did all the preliminary and final judging inside Gundam Australia Forums ( GAF ).

The section where ALL participants were judged was in a secret section called G-SHOT Judges Area. Only all of us judges were able to access the area during the competition. However Adam Sonar the creator of GAF has now opened the Judges Area to all the members of the forums.

If you are interested in how we selected and voted for all the 5 winners and if you are a GAF member, you could check out the Judges Area and you could also select your top picks or winners for each category. The top choices will then be the G-SHOT  >>> GAF People's choice!

Now be sure to log in with your GAF account before clicking the link... here is the Judges Area guys...

1/35 RX-93-2 Hi-Nu Head modeled by darkyojimbo

I saw this magnificent work a couple of days ago and it kinda inspired me to revisit my Turn A head for the Ebasenet.com head GB at ZeroGunz. I have not worked on mine since mid December but it just needs a bit of wire work and some little mods before painting.

Anyways, one of my fav Gundam design is the Hi Nu and this Hi Nu head sure is eye popping! This beautiful Hi Nu head was modeled by dakyojimbo and I love the blue neon lights he did for the eyes as it gave the kit a majestic feel to it. The finishing is perfect and the pastel colors is just too pleasant to the eyes. This is fantastic work that everyone should see...

Acguy Jr. modeled by Howardkhor

Way before the Beargguy craze was Howardkhor's Acguy Jr.! Howardkhor is a really good modeler from Malaysia and his PG 00 Raiser was even the cover of HobiMax October issue. This Acguy Jr. however is his most recent build but he completed this way back July 2010!

The last build was way back July 2010 and I have been wondering for months now where the heck is Howardkhor??? I mean this guy is one of the best modelers out there and has been an active member of ZeroGunz for a time. A humble but really talented guy who used to contribute a lot through his WIPs.

Anyways, I was a bit surprised that I do not have a feature of this build here in my blog, but then again it's better late than never right? Hope to see Howardkhor play plastic again, but for now you could enjoy more photos of this build and his other masterpieces at his blog...

Hope you enjoyed this build by Howardkhor! Til' next feature guys! :)

Happy Birthday to Kriz / Rmahza!!!

This is actually my first time to actually greet a person here in my blog. But I would just like to shout my greetings to my closest, most trusted, dearest and oldest ( lol ) Gunpla friend! Happy Happy Birthday to Kriz / Rmahza and may he have a great day today! More Gunpla years to come and just enjoy the friggin' hobby man! Love yah!!!

I have been friends with Kriz in ZeroGunz since both of us have Zero G ( at that time ) as our first Gunpla forums. We sort of were like a tag team back then, and we always made it a point to comment in almost all the posts in Zero G! We also did the tag team commenting team in FichtenFoo forums for a while. Now we are both admins in our own new MAC forums, enjoying the hobby together more than ever! Nope we are not gay, but I do love this guy! hehehe

Like Kriz always say... birds of the same feather, flock together! ( This is soooo true! LOL )

Happy Happy Birthday man! and may ALL your wishes come true!!! :) Just Enjoy the Hobby Kriz!!! :)

concept MECHA GB: Urban Crawler by Darwin Umali

This is the newest finished entry to our MAC's concept Mecha Group Build. This was created and modeled by a fellow Filipino modeler in Darwin Umali aka CLEFSHOXX. This build as Darin stated is a mecha for our on Philippine Marines so I guess this is set in the near future of around year 3123 ( pun intended ).

This is meant as a tactical robotic unit of some sort both for urban and jungle warfare. A pretty creative build made up of bits and pieces of different toy and plastic parts! This would be perfect if it was weathered I think, but I guess Darwin wanted a fresh from the factory look.

Discussion of this creative build by Darwin Umali in his thread at MAC forums...

SD Zeong modeled by Titanium

As you've noticed I can really do any Gunpla on weekdays these days, my ork schedule this month just on't allow it. So while I was checking out the sites of the fellow modelers I have in my fellow mech artists page, I found this cute little guy!

This very nice SD Zeong was modeled by Derrick Poh aka Titanium. I met Titanium back in 2008 at hong kong as he was the BAKUC Singapore champion back then. He is pretty known for his nice clean well built dioramas and beautifully detailed kits. He loves to work with large MG or even PG kits so it was the first time for me to see him do a nice simple SD.

I love SDs so much and I collect them! I do not have the patience and skills to work with them though but seeing them modeled by good modelers is always a delight! Anyways here is the link to Titaniums website...

G-SHOT! 2011 Revisited & Appreciations by Gundam Guy

I just finished reading Gundam Guy's wrap up post of G-SHOT 2011 and I must say I am looking forward to next year's competition already! As most of you know, I am one of the 5 judges who got to select our 5 winners ( one in each category ) out of roughly around 500 entries around the world wide web.

This was a successful event as we were treated to so many beautiful builds from new modelers and old veteran modelers alike. I have said my thank yous to G.G. a hundred times but as I always tell him... It was my honor to be part of this great event. Thanks a ton to G.G. for giving me the opportunity of being a judge in this online Gunpla competition.

Actually Gundam Guy's thank yous and links to my humble free blog and our MAC forums is more than enough... BUT a free MG of your own choice is always a welcome addition to solidify the brotherhood! hahaha. Thanks in advance for the free Master Grade man!!!.
