BORKA available in 8x10 Digital Prints

Hi people, just like to announce that the Borka drawing is now available to order as 8R ( 8 inches x 10 inches ) digital prints. The prints are available in Black and White ( BORKA BW 8R ) and Full Colored prints ( BORKA C 8R ).



ALL digital prints will be signed by yours truly with the number of the printed copy. Prints will be limited to 100 copies. Both digital prints will be printed in high quality matte or gloss photo paper and will be shipped and packed carefully. We accept payments thru paypal and we are starting to take orders now. All orders will be shipped by end of September. Digital prints costs 5usd each ( 10usd for shipping ).

Jewelry Basics

Jewelry making involves lots of little pieces that can be confusing. Here is a break down of the most basic parts:

Pieces from left to right:

1) End Crimp

2) Cord End

3) Split Ring

4) Jump Ring

All of these pieces work together to attach a clasp to a piece of raw chain or cord!

We have several clasp options including magnetic, lobster, and hook & eye.

Jump and split rings are very important when it comes to attaching charms. Without a jump ring, most charms will lay on their side.

With a jump ring the charm naturally lays flat!

Jump rings and split rings have the same function, but are put on differently.

How to open a split ring:

Split rings are like miniature key rings. They are very strong, but they are fussier to use than a jump ring. Using a tool called a ring splitter, open the split ring. If you try to open the split ring with your hands you can easily bend it out of shape.

Once the ring is open, slip in your charm or clasp!



How to open a jump ring:

To properly open a jump ring, move the two sides away from each other vertically with a jewelry pliers.


If you open the jump ring horizontally, it will bend out of shape. It isn't impossible to make it a perfect circle again, but it is difficult!

Product Haul

Here are some of our favorite products this week!

J. Herbin Refillable Pens: This pen comes in ball point or fountain style. They are refillable and you get to choose the ink color!

Magical Powdered Pigments: (from Lindy's Stamp Gang) These powdered dye based pigments "stain" rather than float within mediums. These powders are incredibly potent, so it just takes a tiny amount to colorize any number of things.
How to use them: Wet a paintbrush with water or alcohol or Add a bit of the pigment to your favorite medium: acrylic glaze, clear gesso, modeling paste, gel, and fluid mediums, to colorize that medium.

Oil Paint Box: House your current favorite oil hues in this wood box! It's a great way to bring your paint with you without staining your bag.

Some other favorites: ceramic palettes, cat manikin, and Simply Simmons brushes (brushes only stocked at Division)

DIY Gold Leaf Necklace

This week's DIY features gold leaf again! One week of gold leaf was just not enough, don't you agree? To make this necklace you will need:

1) Spray Adhesive

2) Gold Leaf

3) 2 Jump Rings

4) 2 End Crimps

5) Chain (long enough to pull over your head!)

6) Hexagon shape (available at Division location) or a chipboard shape of your choosing

7) Straight pin 

1) (not pictured) Spray shape with adhesive in a well ventilated area.

2) Lay the shape adhesive side down on a sheet of gold leaf.

3) Let the shape lay for an hour or until adhesive is dry. Use your hand (and a straight pin if necessary) to pick away excess gold leaf. 

4) Wear your new necklace everywhere and get all the compliments.

Using Gold Leaf with Stencils

Gold leafing is more versatile than you think! While it is great for frames and covering whole objects, you can also use it with stencils. 

For this project you will need: 

1) Spray adhesive

2) A stencil

3) Gold leaf

4) Wood Panel

Place your stencil over the wood panel and spray it thoroughly with adhesive (be sure to do this outside or in a well-ventilated area). Carefully remove the stencil from the wood. 

Place a sheet of gold leaf over your wood panel. Let the leaf rest on there for about two minutes. Use your index finger to gently rub away the bits of leaf that are not adhered to the wood. 

The resulting look will be a little distressed, textured, and very gold. For a more contrasted version you can always paint the wood before hand or use silver or copper leaf!

Use the left over flakes to make a glittery snow globe or put them in a miniature bottle and make a necklace!

Ink Drawings by Don Suratos from Pencil to Paypal

I have been drawing for the past few days and have been getting so many requests of different characters from different people all over. I am about to finish my 2nd commissioned artwork and will be shipping them by next week. I am excited to see my pieces on the walls of the homes of my clients very soon.



Pardon the huge watermarks on these photos as I will eventually offer digital scans of the images in their different drawing stages ( except the finished artwork ). There will be NO digital copies of the finished artwork to maintain the originality of the commissioned pieces. The original pieces drawn with Zig Kurecolor on 10x15 illustration board will be one of a kind art pieces. I highly recommend to clients that they should never produce digital copies of the artworks to maintain the value of each original piece.
