One of our favorite outdoor, summertime crafts is sun printing. Its like a magic trick brought on by the sun! Even though the Pacific northwest allows for only a small window of time we're able to play with such a product, we sure do take advantage of it.
Its true name is cyanotype printing, which is a alternative photographic process. Originally, it was used as a low-cost printing alternative for engineers, who created blueprints with the iron-based processing. Today there are several different techniques to create the blue tinted images. Collecting found objects makes for super unique, one-of-a-kind prints. Negatives can also be created to reproduce a photograph or drawing.
We carry a few different products in our shops that will help you start sun printing right away!
