TOP Filipino Gundam / Mecha / Toy BLOGGERS

After seeing that 4 of the  TOP5 fellow Filipino bloggers are friends and are MAC Forumers, I thought of creating a list of all the MAC Forumer Filipino bloggers instead of just inviting them to join TOPBlogs. In this way I also get to feature the other Filipino bloggers that are not TOPBlogs members.

As much as I want to add everyone in my fellow mech artists page, Putting up this separate post is SEO friendlier. I do not want to keep on editing my pages as my SEO optimization will be sacrificed. Anyways, this post serves as a directory of fellow Filipino blogger friends and I hope you enjoy and support the bloggers on this list.

Hope you enjoy the links guys! Til' next post! :)

PG Gundam MKII Custom Assault modeled by Emonem

customPGMKIIphoto

Let us start a week with a feature of another Filipino modeler in Emonem. This guy intrigued us with his entry last BMKWC 2010 as his entry is finely made but out of scale. Last years' competition was his first and after seeing the pimp out kits in the contest, Emonem tried out some modifications for his most recent build.

I present to you Emonem's first modified kit, the PG Gundam MKII Custom Assault! This as his first time to use pla plates and I see that he enjoyed the experience very much as the results are very well done! The color scheme matches the concept very much although as expected it killed the details a bit.

However the orange accent colors was a great call as it does not only gave the kit a nice military feel to it, the orange accents also gave the overall look a very nice punch! Needless to say I love the color scheme and I am pretty sure this looks extra handsome in person.

4 out of TOP5 Filipino Gundam Bloggers from MAC!

What a way to start the week! 4 out of the TOP5 Filipino Gundam Bloggers are from MAC Forums! ( 2 ) Dark side of the Sun is by Vanz Hilario, ( 4 ) X marks the Gundam Spot is by Matanglawin X and ( 5 ) The Toy Collector is by Alex Arevalo of Halimaw Sculptures. Safe to say that MAC Forum bloggers rules the Filipino Blogosphere! Woot! In addition, Boltex Machine by Raymond Celeste ( 10 ) and Mecha Workshop by Nath Dalanon ( 8 ) are in the TOP10.

TOPBlogs is the largest tracking site for Filipino blogs and they track the number of unique visitors ( not the views counts or refresh rate ) that every Filipino blog gets. TOPBlogs was basically created to measure the popularity of Filipino blogs.

However, TOPBlogs resets to zero every start of the week, thus I always check the rankings during Saturdays. Last week was a great week for the MAC Forumer Bloggers! And this week looks as promising! I hope you continue to support my fellow Filipino bloggers by checking out the list below... Again here is the list of my friends at TOPBlogs...

Thanks for dropping by! Hope you enjoy the links above guys! Just enjoy the Hobby! Woot! LOL

MG Zeta commish WIP - it's primed!

primedMGZetacustomphoto

IT'S PRRRRIMEDDDD! ( Bruce Buffer - veteran voice of the octagon )

Yeap the MG Zeta commish is primed! I was kinda surprised to see some errors in the areas I least expect them. I was expecting to do putty work on the shoulder and front skirt armors, instead there are a few errors on the chest and head part. Putty work and a bit of sanding should easily clean the errors up.

I like how the primer ( as usual ) cleanly showed the errors and the details. Really excited to paint the small pla plate strips with my new Citadel paints. I really need to work on my panel line scribing though as a few lines are crooked and ugly, although this will be painted dark blue so hopefully after a bit of clean up the crookedness won't show much after painting.

Hopefully the client approves this for painting already so that I could disassemble this and paint the internals. I plan to paint the internals with spray cans ( silver ) to make it extra resistant to scratches. I could not paint the armor parts during weekdays though as I will use my airbrush for the armor parts and I need another weekend for that.

Now here are a ton of photos of the primed MG Zeta...

My client wants the dead Dom to have a bigger shoulder on the other side, so I figured using my scrap MG Sazabi shoulder instead. If the client approves this I will give it some battle damage and pla plating and paint it black to blend with the chest part.

MG 1/100 Rick Dias Ghost modeled by Singlemedia

customMGRickDias

This kit was featured at both the bigger blogs in guNjap and GundamGuy, but I figured its better late than never. I am proud to present another Filipino modeler in Jonathan Abenir aka Singlemedia of Cebu, Philippines. This is Singlemedia's first completed kit of the year and he finished in flying colors to say the least.

This build has been one of the most active WIP thread in ZeroGunz and has reached more than 2,500 views and 35 comments. I have been following this build after seeing Singlemedia's Gundam MKII Shuriken build ( also in ZeroGunz ).

Anyways, I love the color scheme of his Rick Dias very much as all the tones used complimented each other pretty well. The modifications are topnotch masterful work and the modifications looks so original and fresh. The leg and chest parts are the most beautiful part of all IMO.

Hope to see Singlemedia's future builds come year end at the big stage at BMKWC 2011. More photos and discussion of this masterpiece at ZeroGunz... Here is the link...

MG GM Sniper custom modeled by Moses Wu

MGGMSniperCustomPhoto

I have here a beautiful masterpiece by a very good Gunpla diorama builder from Shanghai in Moses Wu. I have featured Moses Wu here in my blog before when I saw his monstrous diorama of a MG Gouf and a MG WZ08 in ZeroGunz. Moses Wu named that huge diorama Ambush!

I love Moses' works as he also loves bases and dioramas. We do not really see much dioramas these days, so any finely built diorama is a gem. As usual much like his Ambush diorama, Moses did a great job in painting and weathering his bases.

However unlike his previous work, the MG GM Sniper has so many modifications and fine details added to the main kit. I love the exposed internals in particular and how he painted those in metallics to give a nice contrast to the flat finished armor parts. The color scheme is loud and lovely and the extra details / wires on the base / diorama is such a treat to look at.

Overall another masterpiece from the master modeler from Shanghai! I highly recommend you bolt to Moses' site for more photos of this beautiful build. Here is the link guys...

I got more Citadel paints!

Citadelpaintsphoto

I bought a handful ( literally ) of Citadel paints yesterday after buying a handful last week. Kamm continuos to poison us in our forums with his sick hand painting skills using Citadel paints. I would never try hand painting a whole kit like Kamm though, but would try to hand paint details more using this beautiful paints.

I basically bought this for the MG Zeta commish details as my client wants some bling bling details all over. I also got some flesh color, black and a brown for the figures in my Turn A head diorama. These little jars got me excited to paint the Zeta already, although I still have to prime and paint the thing.

On a side note, I added and edited my HTML codes yesterday and I happily got rid off of the Facebook widget that takes so long to load. The new widget in my sidebar now houses my RSS subscription ( first time ), my twitter account and my Facebook fan page. All in a simple box including a better search box. Faster loading time for my blog and easier access to my other accounts. Woot!

for a GOOD Cause...

customKampferphoto

I just woke up and it is barely 6 am here in the Philippines. I just read Kenny's ( Toymaker ) post on how  they plan to help the Japanese people who were affected by both the earthquakes and the tsunami. They plan to raise 10,000 USD for the cause and I hope they reach there goal.

Aside from giving 10% of the sales of HAG ( Singapore Gunpla store ), Kenny donated four of his masterpieces for the cause. This is such a great read as this post greeted me first thing in the morning... a very admirable act from our fellow Gunpla enthusiasts in Singapore. Here is the link to Kenny's post...

BLINKY short film written & directed by Ruairi Robinson

BLINKYscreenshot

I saw this post at slashfilm.com of a really visually compelling short film ( 12 mins ) of a boy with his helper robot. I do not want to spoil your visual experience and I highly recommend you give your 12 minutes up and watch this " robot " film.

The film is directed and written by Ruairi Robinson and starred by Max Records ( Where the Wild Things Are ). This is the perfect example of great " visual " storytelling. Not much words were spoken in the film but the visuals pretty much told the story on it's own.

I love the arching of the plot as you will be abruptly treated to a very " nice " ending. The photography of the film is topnotch which resulted to a very convincing realistic compositing of the CGi. I do believe a mock up robot was used for the close ups, as it looks so real specially during the raining scenes.

Anyways, I could go on blabbing as I really enjoyed watching the film but again I do not want to spoil this visual experience... Here is the film guys, enjoy!

1/35 Transformers Movie 3 model kits!!!

Transformerstoys

I shamelessly took these photos from guNjap and Mecha Guy coz I wanted these photos in my archives. I am a TF fan and had been collecting the Toys since the first movie came out. As a Gunpla modeler, this news got me so excited! I have always dreamed of a kit of those cool TF designs as they will be super detailed if ever they copy the movie designs faithfully.

The toys are super detailed enough for toys, but imagine those details in a model kit. I also think that without the transformation gimmick, these kits should have nice articulation for great diorama poses. I just hope that the quality of the model kits will be at least almost as good as Bandai's.

Plus! because it is in 1/35 scale, all of those easy to acquire 1/35 military figures will match perfectly with these mechas! Man I cannot imagine the endless diorama possibilities that this kits has to offer. Ruined buildings, lots of 1/35 US Marine figures on the side and 1/35 battle damaging and weathering! This is so crazy!

Plus you get to practice nice car finishes on the car / armor parts and super detail painting on the internals. I do not detail paint Gunpla internals as much as others as they are always covered with armor anyways, but TF Movie designs would allow you to show off those detail painting! This is a dream project soon to come to reality.

These news just makes this hobby so fun and unbelievably exciting! Til' next post guys! :)
